What's wrong with Program Files? When SSE is installed in the programs files, Windows sometimes interferes due to (UAC) permissions. There is a section in this guide that will walk you through some of these important settings. For now simply select the visual quality that best suits your PC. *If the game did not auto-detect your video card on launch do not worry it happens as this is an older game and newer Graphic cards such as my Nvidia RTX 2070 get the same message. I am not going to insist a complete playthrough but I do agree you should know what you're working with at the very least.
